Corporate Prayer
1.    Ordained by God
a.     Matthew 18:19-20 ESV
Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.”
b.     2 Corinthians 1:11 ESV
You also must help us by prayer, so that many will give thanks on our behalf for the blessing granted us through the prayers of many.
2.    The Lord’s Prayer as a model
a.     Our Father which art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name
i.      We begin by recognizing who God is, and declaring His attributes, ie…hallowed, or holy.
b.     Thy Kingdom come
i.      We should pray for God’s Kingdom to be established in our community.
c.     Thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven.
i.      Pray that His will will be done in our lives, we surrender to His plans
d.     Give us this day our daily bread
i.      We present our needs to Him
e.     And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors
i.      We confess that we are sinners and that we will show forgiveness and acceptance to others as we want to be accepted.
f.      And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil
i.      Pray that God will give us victory in our lives so that we will “walk in the light as He is in the light.”
3.    Corporate Prayer should be short.
a.     The prayers offered in public should be short and to the point. God does not require us to make the season of worship tedious by lengthy petitions. Christ did not enforce upon His disciples wearisome ceremonies and long prayers. “When thou prayest,” He said, “thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men.” Matthew 6:5                                                                                       Gospel Workers 175

4.    Avoid Repetitious Words and Phrases.
a.     ”Father God”, “keep/make us humble and teachable”, “in a special way”, etc…

5.    Come prepared.
a.     Know what the Sabbath theme for the day is, so you can pray for that.
b.     Find out if there are any special needs to pray for.
c.     Meet with other worship leaders in the prayer room at 10:45am Sabbath morning.
6.    Remember, it’s not about you, it’s about Him.
